"The ""Dreamcatchers,"" as they are now known, were once a party of two, pushed from their respective homeworlds due to very different circumstances. Alec Rex Rune is one of a handful of survivors who were left with little other choice but to seek their future among the stars when a stellar conflict found his homeworld. Alec decided that with his new life, and nothing else to loose, he would embrace his adventurous side and seek out the powerful relics of the past in order to protect his future. He ""commandeered"" an vessel, and began visiting sites, ruins, and anything related to the lost tech of past. Learning from and using what he found, he began to outfit himself with modified gear, and earn some minor renown as a mercenary.

It was on this journey that he'd meet Shelby Scarlet Aurora, the ""runaway princess."" Gifted from a young age, she was poised to take over the Aurora family, one of the 3 controlling business families of Nu'Rexia. However, when her father fell mysteriously ill, her aunt usurped the family head position, and Shelby was faced with a forced arranged marriage that was obviously meant to silence her. Seeing this, she fled from her home, where she would soon encounter Alec refueling his current ship after taking a small vacation. The two quickly garnered notoriety, a force better than they ever would be apart. Thanks to her upbringing, Shelby was a phenomenal businesswoman and information gatherer, providing Alec with not only access to information and archeological sites he didn't even know about or would've had access to, but also something he'd lacked for a long time: financial stability and growth. For Shelby, Alec provided protection, adventure, access to the greater universe, but above all else, the ability to be herself. The two quickly became quite close, and a romance grew between them.

Many began to hear of the dynamic duo, and many soon flocked to them. Among them, most were either other mercenaries who liked the idea of joining a band not affiliated with a warring faction, or refugees either from or displaced by said warring factions. News began to spread about the new mercenary clan forming under Alec & Shelby, but it truly became a reality when the group (now a small fleet of various ships) discovered an ancient shipyard of unknown origin. Exploring the ruins, they were able to discover a large vessel seemingly mostly intact, despite its age. Knowing they found something amazing, the group spent months getting the ship back into working order, even going so far as to dismantle their old ones for parts. After much time and effort, the ""Dreamcatcher"" was christened, along with Alec and Shelby's union. Today, the ""Dreamcatchers"" as they're called have grown in size into a full fledged mercenary clan, and are almost always involved in anything archeological or scientific discovery. Similarly, mercenaries who are part of the clan are known to be able accomplish jobs, and even utilize strange technology so long as the reward is worth it to them. However, they are also very secretive, and selective of who the invite into their fold. Many desire the secrets that are aboard their clan's home ship, which has managed to stay under the radar despite interest. Those onboard are also of interest to outside forces. Shelby's aunt is still keeping tabs in the dark, but the clan has a fair share of runaways, as well as scientists and archeologists who have hands-on data of ancient/forgotten technology. However, if you find yourself in the possession of something enigmatic, weird, or otherwise, Dreamcatcher's are always there to buy it from you, or should you be trustworthy, identify it.

However, there is a bigger secret. Few within the clan know, only those trusted by Alec and Shelby. Despite the catious and winding routes it takes in order to lie low, the ""Dreamcatcher"" is heading somewhere, looking for something. What data they were able to recover from the ship suggests it was part of something, something much bigger, and Alec and Shelby are determined to find it."
