PyroExodus is one of the galaxies oldest corporations. Founded in SY 1200 as PyroSys by the Edge brothers, intellectual elites in the Rhyno Confederation upper-middle class. PyroSys initially became the largest supplier of capital ship weaponry within the Confederation. After numerous attempts to nationalize the industry, PyroSys was seized by the Confederation without any of its primary engineers. After extracted itself from Confederacy space, PyroSys became PyroExodus and founded a corporate colony. PyroExodus is now a Corporate Governance with over 1.2 Billion citizens. PyroExodus maintains its own Navy and Marines. PyroExodus does not participate in galactic trade summits or engage in treaty negotiations, purchasing of PyroExodus products can be performed by national, private, and corporate actors.

PyroExodus procures and produces products in the Arms, Mercenary Services, Commercial Cooking, HVAC, Transportation, and Mining sectors.

History

Dygan Edge, the primary chemist, was introduced to galactic conflict during the Tri-Star Prefecture Rebellion. Dygan developed an incredibly powerful gelatinous ball that was totally inert until a catalyst caused it to burn and explode on impact -- the Blazer was born.

With his invention in hand, Dygan found a ready market for his weapon with the Rebel forces. Space combat required long range missiles with massive magazines. Dygan's weapon allowed the Rebels to wait in ambush or close quickly and tear apart their enemy with powerful close range weapons.

While Dygan enjoyed a sudden boost in wealth, he found much of the Rebel propaganda off-putting and opted to bring his invention to the Confederacy. Since the bolts required a catalyst that only he and his brother knew the formula for, they were able to negotiate a pardon. At the same time, the stockpiles of inert gelatinous balls were worthless to the Rebels.

Using the blazer technology against the Rebels, the Confederacy was able to put down the uprising and PyroExodus was officially incorporated by the Edge brothers.

Death of Dygan

Dygan was killed in a motorcraft accident in SY 1833, leaving his brother Ihan as the sole owner of the company. In an attempt to secure the formula to the Confederation's primary weapon, they moved to seize the company from Ihan.

Ihan made several unsuccessful deals with the Confederacy and found himself at their will for ammunition order. While he was able to keep control of the catalyst, he was eventually providing the inert balls at cost to the Confederacy. Ihan attempted to leave Confederacy space, but soon learned he was being trailed by secret police. Every attempt he made to leave was thwarted.

The damage was done in SY 1911 when Ihan found his primary foundary seized by Confederate security and Ihan was arrested for 'stealing state secrets'. In his trial, the formula for the catalyst was classified as a state secret, and Ihan was the only one who knew it. Ihan pled guilty and refused to share the formula, resulting in his incarceration.

The Blasser

During Ihan's incarceration, the Confederation seized the rest of PyroSys and attempted to reverse engineer the Blazer. Little is known about the failed attempts at reverse engineering as several high-profile explosions took out labs and foundries. Accounts from this time also indicate Ihan was tortured and drugged in a Confederation black site.

By SY 1947, the Confederation scientist Aldous Almeda developed a highly reactive catalyst that could detonate the inert material. The development came just in time for the Confederation War of the Gods. The new Blazer proved to be underpowered and unreliable, earning itself the nickname 'the Blasser'.

Late in SY 1950, a team of dissident's located Ihan and helped him escape captivity. The group setup a small colony and declared their independence. The colony, PyroExodus Prime, became the corporate headquarters of the new PyroExodus company. Ihan gave control of the company to the dissidents that had freed him, and retired to his new foundry where he suffered from schizophrenia and drug addiction due to his torture and imprisonment.

PyroExodus

Following their colonial establishment, PyroExodus began selling both capital ship weapons and small arms. Their new home system was rich in natural resources and with the help of the Hass Enclave they distributed their weapons without revealing their star system.

The obfuscation worked for two years before their location had become well known to the galaxy at large. Private mercenaries, corporations, enclaves, tribes, even some disgruntled Confederate Admirals began showing up in their system and purchasing weapons and weapon systems.

Initial talks with the Confederation broke down and the threat of an invasion was renewed. However, with the War of the Gods pressing Confederation resources, an unofficial agreement was struck and the Confederation became one of the largest customers of PyroExodus.

PyroExodus began a program of indentured servitude, providing passage out of Confederate space for citizens who wanted it, in exchange for an agreed time of employment.

Post-Confederate Fall

PyroExodus took no side in the collapse of the Rhyno Confederation and allowed both sides equal access to Blazer bolts. The power vacuum left by the Confederate collapse and the Rew's struggle to maintain control led to PyroExodus to begin purchasing vessels to establish its own security fleet.

The PyroExodus Navy soon added a Marine contingent. The forces were initially not available-for-hire and were meant for security of PyroExodus space, facilities, and planets.

The cost of maintaining a private armed force, however, led to some short-term contracts. Eventually local warlords began contracting for use of the fleet. By SY 2800, the PyroExodus Navy had seven fleets, and four battalions of Marines.

PyroExodus shareholders began developing a number sub-divisions including Commercial Cooking and HVAC solutions for their expanding colonial base. Astex Mining and PyroExodus formed a corporate partnership and began large scale mining of non-inhabited systems planets.

Corporate Divisions

There are seven distinct divisions within PyroExodus; Colonial Affairs, Arms Sales, Armed Forces, Commercial Appliance, Mining, Special Projects, and R&D.

Colonial Affairs

The Colonial Affairs sub-division of PyroExodus is responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure on PyroExodus Prime. They also review and sign all contracts related to health services, education, and transportation administration. Civil services are provided for a fee, which is deducted from any corporate employment.

Citizens are allowed to work third-party jobs, but must pay a fee to do so.

Arms Sales

The original bread-and-butter of PyroExodus is now their third most profitable arm. There has been a galactic shift back toward long-range missile duels, resulting in a decreased reliance on Blazer technology.

Armed Forces

Responsible for the security and policing of PyroExodus Prime, the armed forces are also available for hire. These short term contracts have become the largest influx of money coming into the corporation and its citizens. Working for the fleet or the marines pays some of the highest salaries that non-executives can earn within the corporation.

Citizens are only allowed a maximum of 5 years employment in the fleet of marines unless they are a corporate officer.

Commercial Appliance

Using PyroExodus HVAC or Cooking systems within colonies and biodomes has become an incredibly chic choice. The marketing campaigns have pushed hard into the lives of everyday citizens. Fan groups of PyroExodus wear their branded clothing and espouse the advantages of catalyst based cooking and heating/cooling.

Mining

Partnered with Astex Mining, the PyroExodus industry has been turned towards using their catalyst based explosives for deep core mining. The PyroExodus side is mainly concerned with procurement and delivery of equipment and tools for Astex Mining.

Special Projects

These projects are clandestine and classified within a corporate lockdown.

Research & Development

Still officially led by Ihan, however the R&D is in practice a fractured web of isolated projects and secret development.

Ihan lives in isolation, working on his own projects. He has become a follower of the Fractal Accord and is working create a better quantum-lattice AI. As such, PyroExodus has begun funding the Fractal Accord movement, despite the controversy.
