Asset Identification Protocol

From Stellar Empire
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Managing a sizable, galactic arm spreading, empire requires a system for tracking orbital and deep-space fixed assets. Each empire uses a system of codes or sequences to identify these objects. Most empires also use colloquial or cultural names for larger assets in addition to identification codes.

Rhyno Confederation

The Rhyno Confederation uses a standard two-letter designation for each star with planetoids occupied by intelligent life within their space. These two letter designations are unique.

Identification Format

[Two-letter Designation][Stellar Object Count].[Sub-stellar Count (if applicable)]_[Orbital Type]

  • Two-letter Designation: Two letter designator for star (e.g. Sintar = ST)
  • Stellar Object Count: Numeral, as counted by orbit from the sun (Skywatch, the fifth planet = 5)
    • Sub-stellar Count: For assets orbiting satellites, Roman numeral, as counted by orbit from the planetoid (Teh-hey, Skywatch's Moon = i)
  • Orbital Type: There are a number of orbital type designations. Assets located in orbit have an 'o' prefix;
    • Habited Station: ostat
    • Weapon Station: oweap
    • Supply Station: osply
