The Crystalline Synod is a formalized, orthodox psionic order based in the Neupert Prefecture. Founded by senior Resonants in response to growing internal schisms within the Resonant Path, the Synod operates as both a religious and regulatory body—guarding traditional glyphic practices and restricting what it deems "unstable" or heretical psionic deviations.

Origins

Established in the early decades following the Rhyno Confederacy’s collapse, the Synod was initially a consensus council formed to preserve Sevrat Halun’s original teachings. As psionic culture flourished and splintered, the Synod gained political and spiritual authority, eventually codifying its own doctrine and jurisdiction within the Neupert Prefecture.

Beliefs and Tenets

The Synod asserts that the psionic gifts of the Declanians are a sacred legacy—not merely biological enhancements, but keys to cosmological harmony. Its core tenets include:

  • Resonant Integrity – psionic ability must align with ancestral patterns
  • Purity of Glyphwork – only sanctioned glyphic sequences are to be taught or inscribed
  • Dimensional Containment – extra-dimensional interactions must be tightly regulated

Structure

The Synod is governed by the Council of Reflective Authority, composed of nine senior Glyph-Seers who rotate leadership every 18 standard cycles. Below them are regional Overseers and Temple Judges who enforce compliance and ritual standards across settlements and psionic academies.

Opposition and Schism

The rise of the Fractal Accord, and their techno-psionic innovations, has led to repeated confrontations with Synod authorities. While the Synod has not declared war on the Accord, it has issued multiple Lattice Censures and formally banned cross-training between Accordists and Synodic initiates.

Influence

Despite declining membership among younger Declanians, the Synod still maintains significant influence in older settlements, high-orbital enclaves, and conservative psionic circles.
