Founded as the Rew Colonial Resistance in SY 2615 by union members as a quasi-political movement. Embraced by the Nine-star League and co-opted as the ruling authority in SY 2620. Victors of the Rhyno Confederacy Civil War, the Confederation would eventually succumb to its internal struggle, ending with an initially peaceful political usurpation by the Rogers Republic.
The Rew Confederacy still operates as a tactile government-in-exile living off the goodwill of the Rogers Republic's adversaries. The Rew Confederacy Navy was instrumental in assisting the Ma'tens Junta revolution.
History
Early meetings saw local unions as agitators against the increasing centralization of the Rhyno Confederacy. However, their message was embraced by the more extensive Nine-star League. The Rew resistance gained its most prominent supporter when Admiral Jik Masters sided with the resistance. His charisma and leadership brought many within his fleet and defectors from other fleets to their cause. After their victory over the Rhyno Confederacy in the Rhyno Confederacy Civil War, the Nine-star League established the Free Confederate Colonies, back-dating their founding to the year SY 2620.
Over the next 250 years, the Rew Confederacy struggled to maintain the shaky alliance that held together its authority. The Central League failed to pass any meaningful legislation, and internal fighting amongst worlds led to a fractured state with several internal border wars.
In FCC 230 (SY 2850), several colonies proposed a quasi-federal Navy, leading to an intense backlash. The assassination of Chancellor Be'tok Manor was leaked by news outlets to have been ordered by the Rew administrator.
Following the assassination of their representative and acting Chancellor, the the Rogers Family homestead began the legal process of secession. They authored the Open Source Constitution, distributing it to all member worlds.
In a fortnight, the weak central league was inundated with process applications of secession by member colonies.
Over the next 20 years, the Confederacy was dismantled from the inside out in a primarily peaceful, voted exodus out of the Confederacy. With only a few member colonies left to face the new Rogers Republic, the Rew Confederacy declared war in an attempt to save face. The stated objective of the war was to demonstrate the weakness of a Republic's will to fight.
The war backfired, as several member colonies refused to commit their navies to the defense of Rew. The Republic war machine was vicious and ruthlessly occupied Rew, bombarding much of the planet from orbit and turning it into a harsh penal colony.
Following the glassing of Rew, the Republic Navy quickly turned against the remaining Confederate colonies. The naval strikes swept aside the smaller navies, and the remaining colonies capitulated quickly.

Government-in-exile
The surviving navies of the Rew Confederation evacuated as much of their wealth and upper class as they could, hoping to prevent reprisals and plan their eventual vengeance for the scourging of their colonies.
Initially the government took refuge in the Wall Sector, but when the Neupert Prefecture authorized the Rogers Republic to claim territories, they were forced to flee once again.
Finding a home amongst the Nothonian Enclaves proved incredibly beneficial as they disliked the Rogers Republic and were open to supporting a subversive element.
Supporting the Ma'tens
As the Ma'tens people sought support for their war of independence, the Rew Confederacy came to their aid. It brought much-needed cash infusions from the Nothonian Enclave they were staying with.
The Rew Navy operated against the Rogers Republic, winning the decisive Battle of Atar's Moon. The Rew Navy and the Nothonian Navy were instrumental in tying up the Rogers Navy across known space - keeping Astachill from being bombarded into submission.
Following the Ma'ten's victory, the Rew established a robust fleet base in the system and a large expeditionary force on the ground.
Size
At the height of its power, the Rew Confederacy had fourteen members, including the ruling world of Rew. The size would diminish slowly, starting in FCC 230 (SY 2850) with the Rogers Republic encouraging succession.
Rew (Capital System)
The Rew Confederacy's home system was also the chief bureaucratic center for the Confederation. The Rew Colonies Navy was the most powerful of the colonies, and a unique naval fleet base was maintained in the system. The last to fall in the Rogers-Rew War, Rew suffered an intense naval bombardment, leaving the surface a wasteland. The subsequent penal colony and blockade did little to help the world recover.
Astachill
Astachill is a frozen world far outside the usual Goldilocks zone. Below its frozen surface, there are deep, rich mines. Their origins are a mystery, but legend holds that the first colonists were brought as slaves to work the mines. Industrial science on Astachill uses its mineral base as a catalyst for developing nano-module synthetics for construction and impact absorption. Astachill remained loyal to the Rew Confederacy through the end of the war and was violently occupied by the Rogers Republic until they revolted, winning their independence in the Ma'tens Revolution
Billet
The Billet system contains six or seven (astronomers disagree on the exact number due to some non-ecliptic orbits) massive asteroid fields. Each seems to have been a mineral-rich planet cracked open for unknown reasons. Some doomsday scholars took up residence, and a strong cult formed around the original gallows humor of the system. The primary colony world is a small, low-gravity tundra planet on the outer edge of the Goldilocks zone. Most citizens who call Billet home live on long-range sub-light mining rigs and hauling vessels.
Entele
Heavily industrialized in the waning days of the Rhyno Confederacy, Entele's atmosphere has become toxic, and the inhabitants mostly live in sealed underground sanctuaries. The colony has strip-mined most of the other planets in its solar system and has begun mining other nearby stars that don't have habitable planets.
Exeter
Exeter had once been an economic powerhouse while the Rhyno Confederacy ruled from Skywatch. However, Exeter became a vicious battleground during the Rhyno Confederacy Civil War. Epic clashes of war fleets resulted in several outer planets falling to the Kessler Syndrome. A protracted ground war leveled several major urban centers on Exeter Prime. Following the war, Exeter slowly rebuilt.
Fore
Fore is one of three neighboring rural systems whose primary economy is internalized to their solar system, with little outside trade. Fore maintained a quiet existence even into the Civil War. Their economy was so isolated and self-sufficient that they were only eventually brought into the war when warships from Mergan sent raiding parties into their agricultural worlds and pillaged for supplies. Fore joined the Republic and became a fierce ally, becoming a fortress colony for Ten Stand after the war.
Gateway
The farthest colony on the wayward spin, Gateway is located in orbit around a powerful pulsar that renders traditional shielding systems obsolete. This led to the development of heavy, kinetic batteries in orbit, with an expansive network of defensive stations. Positioned along a stellar transit, with massive gravimetric pull, it becomes an important stopping point for any vessel heading to the Outer Arms outer most colonies.
Jip
The three habitable planets in the Jip system make up a robust rural economy. The planets trade primarily among themselves, with a single larger spaceport on Jip Prime's second moon acting as the primary galactic marketplace for the system. While the system is predominantly self-sufficient, it produces excess foodstuff shipped to the rest of the Confederacy. Jip was the first colony to use the Roger Republic's Open Source Constitution to leave the Confederacy.
Kastle
The only colony founded by members of the Rew Confederacy, in FCC 82 (SY 2702), colonists were sent from Entele after a habitable planet was found in the system they were surveying. Acquiring colonization rights, Template:Kastle Aeroworks funded the first colony. After two decades of funding, the system was officially welcomed into the Confederation, and the massive industrialization program began, echoing that of their parent colony.
Mergan
Mergan's proximity to Rew resulted in a tight alliance between the ruling class or Mergan and their Confederate overlords. Fortresses and military academies dotted the landscape as the aristocracy built armies loyal to their families and allies. To this day, Mergan remains a strong military society and fiercely resistant to the Republic's centralization.
Ten Stand
See the Rogers Republic for more information.
Ten Stand is one of three neighboring rural systems whose primary economy is internalized to their solar system, with little outside trade. The people of Ten Stand built a sizable "littoral navy" of sub-light corvettes to help protect against growing pirate raids. After years of skirmishes with pirates (many funded from other Confederate colonies), the people of Ten Stand tried to force the construction of a central Confederate Navy. The attempt ended with the assassination of their embassy and a declaration of war.
Xii
Xii is one of three neighboring rural systems whose primary economy is internalized to their solar system, with little outside trade. The Xii star system is unique to many in the Confederacy, whereas their single habitable world had two moons that were also habitable, and their self-sufficiency was incredibly localized. Their trade caravans were thus not open to accessible raiding, and their stellar defenses were small but centralized. As such, Xii built an extremely well-trained planetary guard, reasoning that the only actual threat came from occupation. To this day, Xii Shock Troops and the Xii Military Academy are recognized as the best in the galaxy.
Yanti
Yanti has several ancient processing facilities that have operated for as long as anyone remembers. These state-owned facilities are relics of an ancient race, producing anti-matter with dark-matter runoff. Absorbing massive quantities of energy, the people of Yanti began working on a Dyson Sphere to harness the complete power of their sun. This project bankrupted the colony shortly after its independence from the Rew Confederacy. The Rogers Republic took control of the colony and infrastructure while supporting the massive energy and construction project with resources from across their empire.
Yollada
The primary stellar object in the Yollada system is a massive, heavy-gravity world located in the Goldilocks zone. Its temperate zone is covered in a gigantic semi-gelatinous ocean filled with a protein-rich phytoplankton blend. The source of the ecological soup is the massive cold-blooded indigenous creatures whose excrement flows into the sea.
The colony's primary residence has become the single barren moon orbiting the planet. The satellite has also become the central processing facility that extracts the water and compresses the residue into uniform blocks sold throughout the galaxy as a generic calorie-rich base food-stuff.
