Located on the outward spin of the Sagittarius Arm, Whistler is thought to be the original origin of the Eukaryotan which were uplifted as a labor force by the Rhyno Confederacy.
Whistler is not located near many other habitable stars, and is usually only visited by traders who are going "down-the-arm" rather than "crossing-the-gap" to visit Longshot. Many refugees from Rew fled to Whistler during their diaspora.
There are 88 recognized nation-states on Whistler. While they do not form a single world government, they do recognize a central governing body for matters of intra-national peace and galactic trade. With so many former Rew, the intergovernmental organization adopted the FCC calendar, specifically to spite galactic standards
