History

In FCC 230 (SY 2850), Chancellor Be'tok Manor of the Rogers Family Homestead on Ten Stand proposed a quasi-federal Rew Navy, leading to an intense backlash from Rew hardliners. Chancellor Manor was assassinated on the orders of the Rew Administration following a hostile vote that Chancellor Manor called in every favor he had to pass.

When the culprits of his assassination came to light, the Rogers Family Homestead pressed their claims to the Ten Stand council. With the backing of the entire colony, Ten Stand voted to secede from the Rew Confederacy - an action that was legal under the Articles of Law.

The Articles of Law stated that the colony must approve a valid constitution and not diminish any rights currently enforced by the Rew Constitution. The legal network of the Rew Constitution made this a difficult proposition. However, the Rogers Family released their legally acceptable Constitution onto the OmniWeb as an open-source document. The Open Source Constitution was made available to any colony that wanted to secede from the bureaucratic Rew Confederacy.

The Rogers Family Homestead founded the Rogers Republic on Ten Stand and began assisting other colonies with the legal proceedings. After successfully seceding from the confederacy, numerous colonies inevitably joined the Rogers Republic during these efforts. The Rogers Republic was rapidly gaining economic growth and began a naval construction program to defend its territory.

This resulted in the Rogers-Rew War. After watching a dozen colonies join the Republic, the Rew Confederacy declared war and called up the Confederate navy. Only four colonies sent flotillas, and the Federal Rew Navy had never been built up beyond its initial funding by Chancellor Manor.

The Republic Navy made short work of the Rew Navy. Bombarding and eventually establishing a penal colony on Rew, the central government collapsed. The Republic's Navy quickly turned against the remaining Confederate colonies. The naval strikes swept aside the smaller navies, and the remaining colonies capitulated quickly.
